Perhaps you need to travel a little more.

Who cares anyways? It's all personal preference. This has nothing to do with facts.

Dayton, OH it is.

Right. Take a spin through Gary.

Sault Ste. Marie, MI...it was actually kinda neat in a way...you can go into Canada and drink when you're 19 if you want if you go to the school there...but no.

I disagree with these. Sault St. Marie is really NOT BAD considering it's in the UP which is like no-man's land. There are many worse places in the up. I almost went to lake superior u. The surroundings are truly beautiful, the air is clear and you're surrounded by nature. There may not be a lot to do in the UP but from May through September the scenery and weather are amazing.

Grand Rapids isn't a great city, but it isn't horrible either. The Intersection gets some good bands.

Just because there's been so many michigan cities on this list, here's my opinion of the BEST michigan cities. These are the places that your band could probably expect to get a good turnout, given it's a legit venue and a popular local supporting band that did decent promotion.
Lansing/East Lansing
Detroit + surroundings
Ann Arbor/Ypsi
K-zoo
Grand Rapids

Detroit doesn't suck because of the poverty/eerie nobody's home vibe, it sucks because the "scene" consists mostly of cokehead hipsters. But there's a scene there, and some really good bands and venues. Any band would be stupid to skip detroit on their midwest tour.
For the worst cities in michigan, I'd say Flint, Muskegon, Howell, Benton Harbor and Jackson.

But the number one worst place in michigan (not a city by any stretch) is East Jordan. Horrifying.

I have, probably dozens of times. At least they have the lake.
