I have this record. I've had it for almost a month now (christmas gift), and have barely listened to it.

Yes the whole production process was damn near terrible, and almost all deftones albums suffer that same lack of dynamics.

Sounds absolutely horrible on my car stereo system I put in about a year ago. Gives me a headache after about 10 minutes. And if ya don't sound good in my car, chances are I'm not gonna listen to ya much.

(btw, the same is to be said of chevelle, save for point #1. Electrical Audio, thank you for not making my tweeters bleed.)

I finally got around to listening to this album I've owned for 6 months. I do like it, a lot more than I thought I would. It doesn't have as many throw away songs as their self-titled album. Still, I think Around the Fur and White Pony are where they're at their best.

i really really like this album.

man, "U,U,D,D,L,R,L,R,A,B,Select,Start" is a gem! and to think that the guitarist plays the drums on that one.... i mean the deftones drummer is already really ill, but the guitarist can really groove on the kit as well.

the one disappointment about this particular deftones album: no contributions from dj crook, one of my all-time favorite drum programmers who did the ill beats on some earlier deftones tracks like "lucky", "teenager", and "rx queen".... at least there was that team sleep album last summer though, what a great album.

this guitarist, stephen carpenter, is recording with a rapcore group called "kush", whose frontman is b-real from cypress hill. their myspace page has cool songs, i'm looking forward to hearing some sort of release from them.

oh yea, whatever that other dude said about lack of dynamics in the production: terry date, love him or hate him. i actually enjoy his production a lot. but yea people seem to be polarized on his production work.
