Josh Brolin for me.

Another issue I had is, if you look at say, The Godfather: Part One, it stands on its own as a film. Dune: Part One does not.
We have David Heyman and JKR (and probably some salivating executives at Warner) to thank for this trend. It’s crap.
The new Dune is not crap, but it doesn’t merit some of the effusive fawning I’ve seen. The Lynch version lays out all the political machinations and relationships in exposition near the start, which is a little too “in your face” for a good narrative to evolve. This one goes a little too far in the opposite direction, I think. But it looks good and has some good performances, Rebecca Ferguson in particular. And yeah, the soundtrack…

Great point. Dune just kind of ends.
It its way, though, it ends exactly like Fellowship of the Ring does.

I mean, The Godfather wasn't "Part One" until they made a sequel. Not really a comparable situation.

The dialogue and most of the acting were really bad. It's almost like they were so busy doing the special effects the rest was an afterthought.
Entertaining, but really let down by the writing and acting.
I think they shot their load with the big set pieces in the first hour. I think I'd rather just look at still of the big set pieces, which coincidentally reminded me of the work of Simon Stalenhag:
Tales from the Loop already used Stalenhag very well.
