Re: RIP v2 - still no cure for death
1911Late one, but Anne Burrell died in July 2025. Cause, suicide. Very sad, she was a fun person to watch cook food. RIP.
LOL yes. I grew up on a dairy farm in northern WI and I'd listen to early Rush and Queen II on a generic cassette walkman while wandering through the woods or doing chores.rsmurphy wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2026 8:29 pm As a kid I used to wander around a forest preserve with my walkman listening to anthemic and fantasy metal thinking I was a warrior or viking or some shit. Cheesy isn't in my vocabulary unless we're talking about comfort food.
I like the first couple of Manowar records. They're fun!
When about 40 years younger, I would visit my cousins in Northern California, who were pretty much hippies. I once went on a walk around their property, which was a horse farm, found a nice spot with a view of the river that ran through it, and listened to The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway in its entirety on my first Walkman. At dinner, I related that experience, and one of my cousins said, "Try doing it without music."Kyle Motor wrote: Fri Mar 27, 2026 10:03 pmLOL yes. And now I'm perusing various versions of "Crazy Horses" by The Osmonds because 1) it's awesome, and 2) the last Dictators lineup did a cover of it.
