For the record, anyone who buys that dirt story is a complete fucking idiot. It was obviously either pine tar or something like it.
I don't even think anyone would have said anything to him had it not been for Fox pointing it out and then commenting on it for the entire inning.
Most surprising to me is how the head umpire totally backed up Rogers' dirt story. I'm guessing MLB officials told him what to say.

I guess you should put me down for complete fucking idiot, but I'm willing to be convinced otherwise. For the pine tar story to be true, you'd have to have an umpire who's willing to let it slide, and I don't understand why he would. For the dirt story to be true, things either have to have happened as they're being reported, or maybe he put dirt on his hand on purpose in order to get some kind of psychological advantage.
If it is pine tar, I think that's super shitty. I'm not a fan of "people do it all the time" excuses. I'm a fan of following the rules when you play a game.
