Both myself and ironyengine were treated to an outdoor performance last night. Those of you who are familiar with the tiny little hole in the wall that used to be The Ottobar and now has some other stupid name, know that it is a very tiny club. Lightning Bolt were pretty much forced to play outside. They only got through about half their set before the cops came due to noise violations. They were still excellent.

What he said. I hope those guys didn't get arrested.
You could seriously hear this show several city blocks away, and the club's basically right next to City Hall. Utter insanity.
But so not crap.

I would have killed to see them play outside. That must have been insanity at its finest. What happened when the cops came, did they immediately stop playing when seeing the cops or did they get to play some more afterwards. When I saw them on the 6th at Alfred University they played in some small shed type building with ladders and equipment on one side and visible pipes hanging. The sound was very loud, but not to the point of having to cover your ears live I have experienced before

I can't see them lasting a night in Central Booking without being eaten alive.
I'm sure they didn't go.
I'm sure they're finishing whatever dates they have and are getting ready to record.
flyinghouses, as far as I know, they finished a song and all of a sudden we were all told to scram. Then I saw a cop and put 2 and 2 together. So to answer your question, I think they pretty much stopped when the po po arrived.

I would so dearly love to hear this band recorded by Steve at Electrical.

I'm not sure exactly when the police arrived either (we certainly couldn't hear them) but they definitely made it through Dracula Mountain before things were broken up. The dude selling their merch said they only finished about half their set. So sad.

For me, they are one of the most exhilarating musical experiences I've ever had.
Brian Chippendale has to be the greatest drummer I've ever heard.
