so, it clearly wins this contest. oddly enough, I haven't seen Blazing Saddles, but I doubt it will all of a sudden become my favourite.
it might.
You really should see it.

I would say Blazing Saddles then Young Frankenstein. But I have a soft spot for History of The World, so I voted for it.
Saw Spaceballs very recently and it doesn't hold up well at all.

How the hell can I choose between Young Frankenstein and Blazing Saddles? They're probably #1 and #2 on my list of all-time favorite comedies.
Assuming they're equally funny, and they are, I might have to give the edge to Young Frankenstein if only because the technical, moviemaking details are a little more accomplished than in Blazing Saddles.
But if you ever claimed I picked one over the other, I'd call you a liar.

I think Blazing Saddles is funny but I saw Young Frankenstein for the first time a few weeks ago and I didn't so much as smile. They seem at the opposing ends of the Brooks oeuvre to me.
Still, my favourite is The Producers.

I cannot comprehend an English-speaking human not laughing at Kenneth Mars as the Chief Inspector. Does not compute.
He's wearing a monocle over an eyepatch! C'mon!

I've recently revisited the Mel Brooks films and I am going to have to go with History Of The World Part 1.
It has everything, a great cast, varied topics, and all the Mel Brooks formulaic jokes we have all come to love like "Don't get saucy with me Bernaise" which is the same joke as "What's the matter Col Sanders, chicken?" from Spaceballs.
Blazing Saddles is the same joke for the whole movie. It is a funny joke but it is just one joke.
Young Frankenstein is pretty funny but just moves way too slowly.
The rest are funny but History Of The World is the peak in my opinion.

Blazing Saddles is one joke? You're forgetting Harvey Korman!
And so many great lines:
"Oh hell, it looks like someone's gonna have to go back and get a shitload of dimes."
"All right, we'll take the niggers and the chinks, but we don't want the Irish."
"Baby, please, I'm not from Havana."
Blazing Saddles is a pretty amazing movie, as I laugh just as hard at 34 as I did at 13, but at entirely different parts.
Still, the Producers is my favorite. Zero Mostel is a force of nature.
