neither are mind blowing on their own, but beans have more potential. hummus, refried beans, black bean soup, many indian dishes, etc. and i'm not even including soybeans..

This Pakistani market down the street was selling a 45 lb. bag of Basmati rice for about $70. I wish I'd bought it.

I will eat the hell out of all of the following kind of beans:
green beans, black beans, fava beans, black-eyed peas, chickpeas, cannellini, those little French green lentils, and edamame.
even some of the other ones like lima beans can be made to taste pretty good.

All US Maple references aside, it's got to be beans.
There was a time when I pretty much lived on garbanzo beans alone. Hummus is a kick ass thing, too, whose main ingredient is garbanzo beans.

Rice is very reliable which I like about it.
However beans have variety. From your french bean to the smorgasbord of the pulse group.
I'm undecided really.
