I probably think Araya is a rather dull Reaganite Republican with libertarian tendencies. I love that on top of the quite rural life he’s a practicing Catholic. King, again, seem like at worst a douchey libertarian, or just not particularly political.
This cover was certainly a choice (outside of Ian's specific experience, which is still problematic) as was changing the last line to "guilty of being right". It's mostly just confusing.

Anyway: lots of respect for Lombardo who was a master of his craft and raised the bar for sure. I could give or take the rest of it honestly, outside of hearing the breakdown in Raining Blood from time to time.
Uff, I forgot about that. Have they ever discussed the decision? It's possible there's some choice that's either satire or irony. Even just douchey edge-lordary.

Live Undead, Hell Awaits, Reign in Blood, & South of Heaven all not crap. Was never a fan of King and Hanneman's soloing as it sounds tuneless. Concerning the edgelord mannerisms Hanneman's totenkopf guitar inlays - and I swear I once saw an SS sticker - seemed awfully meat headed. Had an opportunity to see them live in the 80s and choose not to because of their most ardent fans. Not saying either way if Slayer are/aren't but having to navigate through that bullshit was exhausting. Forever unsurprised with bands who flirt with fascist, racist imagery, and then try to make you feel like you are the moron for questioning it. All that said I couldn't imagine a life without "Black Magic," "Hell Awaits," "Criminally Insane," etc., and will forever see myself sat in front of the stereo staring at the album covers while marvelling at the aggression, speed, and darkness of their music.

Lombardo is the only member of Slayer capable of playing non-Slayer music

come on does anybody think Kerry King knows any cowboy chords? he's a thrash savant

This is actually pretty good. I was aware he did solo stuff. Thanks for dangling it in my face so I had to listen. :D

The more I read about Gary Holt the more I like him. Plus he’s a phenomenal guitarist.

I was never a big Exodus fan until I heard their comeback album, Tempo of the Damned - incredible record. I'm a devote now, but they are one of the few bands that made better "modern" records than their initial glory days run, IMO. Anything with Holt and Hunting playing together (both severely underrated musicians) is very very much worth your time.
