Once again, that's not inherent in the use, that's the price. If drugs were legalized, the price would drop since more people would be able to grow and distribute it.

How about this
Legalize all drugs, because in a free society you unfortunately have to have the freedom to fuck up your own life. Or enhance it, whatever
In certain individual cases where a person becomes violent, dangerous to others under the influence of a particular drug, they then have a notation entered on the datastrip on their national ID card that this individual can no longer partake of this particular substance or substance grouping.
Under this system crystal meth will probably be made illegal once again because of too many incident reports.

Pour money on the problem like we've been doing for 40 years, legalize it, I don't care. Tax the hell out of it, it still won't pay for the horrendous medical costs down the road. That's my point.

No one is saying pour money on the problem in the same way we've been doing it for the past 80 years. Divert the utterly wasted money that's going towards "fighting" "the war on drugs" into a better, and more responsible direction, like taking that same money once it's legalized, and using that for rehabilitation programs, and clinics.
Do you really think the course we've been on is helping anyone but the rich and powerful stay rich and powerful? Really, forget that question, how about answering if you think it's right that people get fined or go to jail for weed? Or why can't a grown man make up his own damn mind about snorting white powder without having to face the very real consequence of jail time? Who are we protecting?
