My shitty thrift store Sony five disk changer crapped out and I have hundreds of old CDs in a bunch of different cases... I'd like to load them all into something and map out the disk numbers. Any recommendations?...masochism can be so much cheaper and less frustrating?

I paid more to fix my other SACD player. The Oppo units do a lot of stuff too, which would usually spook me, but they do it all really well. It will be sad to see Oppo go...*sniff*Used Marantz 6005 and 6006 cd players are going for around 300 bucks. They will always be great. While I guess I could see it as a "The Very Last Time..." purchase, that is still some legit coin.

It'd be nice to load them all up in something. I really regret buying so m(any) of these goddamn things in my teenage years.

Used OPPO UDP-203 units are now going for up to twice what I paid for mine new. I'd sell it, but I really like it.https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?\_from=R ... Complete=1

Hah, sorry if that was a bit caustic. I've just never known someone with one of those mega-changers that didn't have tons and tons of problems with them. Last two people I knew who had one, the thing spent more time needing repairs than it did playing music.Regarding the other topic of the thread (a decent CD player for < $600): I've got a friend who's had a Pro-Ject CD Box DS for 10+ years now, and it seems to be no-frills, pretty small in size, and sounds fine.

I can vouch for the Oppo BDP models. Very good, if not a little backwards in that the HDMI feed to my preamp also needs to see an active 'sink' to keep things running, so the display needs to be on specifically for SACDs.

Looking to spend maybe $300-400.http://dvd-a.net/universal\_blu-ray\_disc\_players.htmlDisclaimer: I've never used any of these, if I recall correctly the Oppo BDP-80 was very well regarded. Also, since DVD-A and SACD are pretty much dead formats nowadays, I think your best bet is second-hand (Audiogon / Craigslist / Hifi Shark / etc.).
