yeah. I know people have opinions about Hans Zimmer but I don't remember a single thing about the music other than it being distracting and awful about 1/3 a way into the movie--like my brain needed to consciously clock that the music was definitely not good at a certain point. Shame cause blade runner 2049 is a real joy, musically.

I really liked the first 3/4ths or so - the visuals, setting, 'atmosphere' etc. Having not read the books and only vaguely remembering seeing Lynch's film I was expecting something insanely complicated but the story was very straight forward and sort of reminded me of LOTR in a good way - I was with the film and didn't feel like anything is missing despite some of the characters being more of a silhouettes, but towards the end I wish the main dude had more of an arch.
Everything onward and including the dragonfly helicopter (awesome!) flying in the sand storm scene felt like it dragged on for too long. Way to many close ups of the protagonist face (and he had like 2 faces through the film) with a variation of the BHAAAAW chord in place of acting. Rebecca Ferguson was acting circles around that dude.

Oh, one BHAAAW moment made me laugh out loud because of how stock--Zimmermannish it was. I did enjoy the AAYYYYYY female vocals, it reminded me of traditional polish signing (mostly known from Witcher 3 I guess)

Oh and enjoyed the visuals overall but I couldn't shake off the feeling that everything on screen felt too soft and clean - in my mind desert should be gritty and intimidating and this is how it was described through the film but It didn't feel that way.

So kind of bland all right but still NC.
