As much as it pains me to agree with Krakabash, he's dead on about Don Bonebrake. Absolutely amazing drummer -- power, time, imagination.

Alan Myers from Devo was pretty amazing on their first few albums, too.

Of the guys listed in the poll, though, I'd go with Chuck Biscuits. He improved every band he played with -- listen to those Black Flag demos he did, that's some of the very best stuff they ever did. Same with his work with DOA.

Descendents started in '78, so I guess one could stretch it and say they're "punk". I like them better than the true "punk" I've heard, so...

Stevenson was my first thought when I saw the subject title. He gets my vote. Energy beyond energy.

I was talking with a friend just about a week ago about how my I still love Liveage, what a masterpiece I think it is. Monster musicianship, songwriting, energy, fun... my favorite non-punk "punk" band for sure.
