It's literally right there in the statement. But maybe I'm underestimating the power of Angus Jung's abstention. Is he in the Electoral College?

Doesn't Angus live in Oregon? Maybe we should relax about whether he'll hypothetically vote for Biden 18 months from now. But absolutely, if you live in any state where you think there's a chance your vote matters, vote for the Democrat, even though they all basically suck. I agree that voting should be thought of in practical, not moral terms. That does make it weird though considering how often Democrats used moral language to encourage voters not to vote for Trump. Here's the thing, though, it's kind of fucked up to blame voters for shitty candidates with shitty politics. The but look how bad the other guy is shit only works so many times before a certain percentage of the people stop caring. Black voter turnout declined by 7% between 2012 and 2016, the first decrease in 20 years. Somehow I suspect this act of mass political despair had little to do with Bernard Brothers being mean to Hillary Clinton. Hey, slightly related, can anybody tell me what TV show/movie the image is from in this dumb meme?

Just for the record, Joe Biden is extremely good.Slate wrote:Joe Biden s presidential campaign hasn t been formally announced, but it already has a theme, which is that Biden is the only Democrat with the kind of bipartisan appeal and common touch needed to win white working-class voters in key swing states back to the Democratic Party. Two events on Thursday underlined that theme, then circled it in red ink and drew a bunch of big exclamation marks around it.First, CNN published a piece about letters that Biden, then a young senator from Delaware, wrote to Mississippi Democratic Sen. James Eastland in 1977. Eastland believed that desegregation would œmongrelize the white race and had denounced the Brown vs. Board of Education decision, calling it a œmonstrous crime œ; in 1977, Biden sought his support for a bill that would cut down on the practice of busing students between neighborhoods to integrate schools. Wrote Biden to Eastland: œMy bill strikes at the heart of the injustice of court-ordered busing. (It doesn t appear that the bill in question was ever passed by the full Senate, but other anti-busing measures that Biden pursued were successful.)Then, Biden, appearing at a University of Pennsylvania panel on opioid addiction with Jeb Bush, complimented Bush as œa hell of a governor. From the Democratic perspective, Bush s tenure as the governor of Florida was probably most notable for his relentless effort, supported by right-wing evangelical groups, to prevent Terri Schiavo s husband from removing her feeding tube after she d been in a vegetative state for 15 years; Bush also signed the œstand your ground law that came under national scrutiny after George Zimmerman killed Trayvon Martin.Strategically, Biden seems to be betting that his association with Barack Obama is going to keep him from losing support among progressives and people of color over things like this. And, like, he s really, really betting that.

Is he in the Electoral College? It is true that those on the west coast have the privilege of getting to be cavalier about their vote while the Electoral College is a thing, i guess. Here in Wisconsin, if anyone tells me they aren't going to vote if their preferred candidate doesn't win, i will give them SUCH a wedgie.Although, granted, i would also like that winning Democratic candidate to actually come to my state and present a case for themselves outside of I'm not Trump that will actually inspire the apathetic, i don't like to think about politics after a long day at work masses here in ol' Sconni.

You can't be right wing and support the green new deal, single-payer health care, BLM, equality act, pathway to citizenship, etc. No he's not a revolutionary. Maybe he's more to the right than you, but he's hardly a right-winger - and this is kinda your bad for name-calling anyone in this race. This is harmful for anyone who ends up w/ the nomination - we don't need to do the GOPs work for them. Need to do a whole lot better instead of falling into the whole "left-eating-their-own" nonsense. garthlinko is right.
