Does anyone know of any books/websites/etc. that have information on all things drums? I'd like to know more about what difference is caused by different materials for shells, the difference between heads, sticks, and the like. I'd also like any tips on tuning. Thanks people.

an excellent tuning book is "drum tuning" by larry nolly.

http://www.amazon.com/Drum-Tuning-compr ... 0964465817

it was written by the guy who sold me my first drum set about 15 years ago. it just came with the drums, and i can't believe that i still read it from time to time just as a refresher. it's easy to follow, breaks it down by drum (bass, tom, snare), and goes into different tuning schemes (relative tension of top to bottom heads, head choice, etc) as a means of getting different sounds. it also deals with muffling, getting rid of unwanted snare buzz, or excessive boom from toms or bass drum. it's a great resource for any drummer. recording engineers too.
