A lady at a school I worked at called me "pumpkin' a few weeks ago.

I didn't mind.

Also pumpkin status strikes me as rare. Now I want on pumpkin status.

Hon is one of those things that makes me question the extent of my latent "isms". Older diner lady, hon is solid. Some kind of white collar job lady, someone closer to my age, it's like fightin' words. Also flamboyant gay men and women of color can call me hon anytime. I guess straight men don't call men hon because that's never happened.

I don't know why certain people can do this and others can't. I think it's a condescending vs endearing quality.

I don't know if anyone has ever called me my dear.

My old day job at a hospital, the ladies of color called me all sorts of things, some of them very, uh, colorful, and it was all very endearing and funny.

Someone needs to name a song Pumpkin Status.

As a non Usonian I’m very partial to waitresses or waiters for that matter call me Hon when I’m over there.
