Yes, the voltages were read directly off the transformer fully loaded with mic. Being fed from a 220V variac. With the above conditions ...

Re-amping the Sontec EQ

Looks like it's coming along well Greg. From the far pics, it first appeared the the input trannys were XLR connectors! My first thought was "WHAT AN IDIOT!". JK Then I noticed that they were actually input transformers. I like the blue PCB too. I'm jealous...

Thanks Greg. I'm using the internal power supply for now, until I can hunt down a schematic for the power supply. I talked to a dude in the GML booth at AES though, and I may just say screw it, and go the GML route too...

The EQ works like a champ now. The new opamps run MUCH cooler than the original Sontec amps, and there's a huge improvement in the sound, especially the low end. I'll be experimenting with placement of these things in the next few weeks, but right now, they're sitting in the output position. I may ...

DIY Headphones amp

We use a consumer stereo amplifier. Sherwood, to be exact. Wire the outputs straight to a resistor box to load it down, and match the Z of your headphones, and you're good to go! You should be able to find something on THE BAY for 20 bucks or so.

Our headphones sound better than any commercial ...

I did the zener thing too, but I think I was too late and had already kilted the MM990... I should have taken a picture; it looked like an alien DOA!!!

Still waiting on the JLM99v's to come in from down under. I only ordered 2, but I'm gonna play with the HS1050/99v combo in a single channel ...
