I just did a quick test running a recorded vocal through an RNLA and a Distressor in opto mode and I'm not sure which one sounded better. By which I mean that they both sounded great. If it's in the budget, I'd recommend one of those Studer 962 mixers. It sounds great and offers a lot within a very small footprint.
The one I've used is 16x2, though I don't know if they are available in other channel configurations.
