Re: Create a 12-Song Sampler for a Genre/Music Marketing Term Nobody Uses Anymore (Or, “Papa, What Was College Rock”?)

While I, from time to time, still listen to and enjoy a bit of the ol' what-used-to-be-called-college-rock, I'd have a lot more nostalgic fun w/:
Create a 12-Song Sampler for a Genre/Music Marketing Term Nobody Uses Anymore (Or, “Papa, What Was Pigfuck”?)

Maybe that speaks to why MrsEaster ...

Re: Band: Chrome

The Chrome recordings prior to their contributions to the Subterranean modern comp was recorded in Damon Edges living room on a 4-track (=studio Alamar); I too prefer that sound to the more "New Romantic"/Coldwave aesthetic on Red Exposure or the more New Wavey Blood on the moon. I think the final ...

Re: Band: Suicidal Tendencies

I'm a fan of everything (to various extents) up to-and including-Lights, camera... As for them being "childish" and "dumb", well, I still like those early Crue and Twisted Sisters albums and still like vintage Marvel superhero comics and I'm in my 50's;i doesn't prevent me from loving Cecil Taylor ...

Re: Judas Priest vs. Dio

Re: Judas Priest vs. Dio

Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin after Sin and Stained Class is a trifecta that is pretty hard to beat by any standard. Priest, no WF.

Yup, second only to Sabbath as far as 70s metal goes and while their 80s was more inconsistent, I wouldn't want to live without Screaming for Vengeance or side 1 of ...

[quote=AdamN post_id=873111

Yep and I also remember after he and the drummer recorded the 3rd album, he had burned all of his bridges in Memphis and moved back in with his libertine parents. They lived down the street from an all girls Catholic high school, and he would go outside and creep on ...

Re: Music You Discovered Late

Pentangle. Got into them in my early 30s but had previously never been interested in that type of stuff. Steely Dan is another one I was late with, when I first heard the Aja album, I thought it was the lamest crap ever but I am a pretty big fan now. Sade another one I self-consciously avoided in ...
