I'm sure those recordings sound amazing, but I don't want to listen to "new" versions of songs I adore. Because of a strange mix of lazyness and oldmanyellsatcloudness.

I think I remember reading that Albini himself said the final Niceley product was indeed "better", though I might be wrong.

The first two Speaking canaries lp's. That's some of my most fave music ever. Much more than Don cab. The way Songs for the terrestrally challenged sounds just floors me. That Al Sutton guy knew stuff.

Down has a couple of my most fave JL tracks (Mistletoe, The best parts, destroy) but overall is clearly inferior to Head or Goat. I like it a bit better than Liar though.
