Zach is amazing to watch, but it all gets very samey after a while. His patterns are just too fast and complicated for me to process. Damon, however, is a joy to watch from start to finish. He has a sense of dynamics and timing which most drummers wish they had.

It's too early to judge Zach Hill as a drummer. He's like 22 years old or something.

He's a really open-minded, creative person. He has been putting himself in a bunch of different musical situations recently. I think his playing is going to evolve in a good way.

I'm going to vote based on this criteria:

I can account for every note Damon Che plays.

Some of Zach Hill's drum beats come out of nowhere, I thought watching the DVD might help, but it didn't. Infact, it confused me more.

In short, I love them both.

Zach Hill would be a lot easier to listen to for me if he exercised a little taste. Also, he didn't write and play "Oh, Suzanna," which puts Damon WAAY ahead in the race.

damon che, on acount of he can show some restraint when it's needed. just heard "the ladies", the new Rob Crow and Zach Hill project, and I really couldn't help but feel it sounded like Heavy Vegetable being ruined by ridiculously elaborate drumming that just wasn't needed.
