Is the Aethenian Room (on webster i think) in chicago still there? That's the best i ever had.
In Milwaukee, Gyros Corner in the hood is the best I have had here.

Also, the Greektown options are great, but it's tough to get gyros when you make the trek there. So many other great Greek foods.
There is a Greek festival near the Swedish Covenant hospital every year that will knock your socks off.

Wally's of Park Ridge is damn good, or was damn good. It's been awhile since I've eaten there.
You're from Park Ridge, huh? Me too.

14The best Gyros are in Athens. Specifically in Kiffissia there is a place called Kupo's which is the great traditional greek gyro. then there is "piggie's" i dont remember the name now, but you cant miss it. It has a giant pig's head on the roof. that has great sides like feta baked on coals and the "flambe" which also rules. Additionally there are numurous great places in Omonia and Monastiraki.

15There was a great gyro place at a Wilmette stop on the El.... maybe Linden street? Can't remeber the name. Haven't been there in years and years but I recall the smell and taste as if it was this morning. Damn! I just gained five pounds.
The best gyro art is on Lawrence Ave near Ashland I think. It is a huge monster looking cone of meat with arm-like things... its very big and threatening. So many good hand painted gyro meat-cone signs in Chicago.

17I second Greecian Kitchen in Skokie, which is also home to another fine establishment, Dengio's on McCormick and Main.
Worth the trip!
However, if youdo go to Dengio's, i suggest the chicken dinner. Their potato is to die for.
Tim, I was very close to your house on Saturday, visiting a friend's condo on Sheridan. Hope you are well!

Yeah damn good.
Indeed I am from Action Ridge. I lived there for the first 15 years of my life. Where did you/do you live? I lived near Touhy and Greenwood.

The sign said "Food From Greece".
It was a mistake. It was supposed to say "Food From Grease".
