More Nady Ribbon Mics?

Well, no one bit, so I'll take a swing :D

*Disclaimer* I've never looked inside a Nady ribbon microphone

I did happen to look at a couple prototype microphones that looked like the royer-type thing, and the lollipop type thing.

My notes were that they shared similar ribbon geometry, magnet structure, and the same output transformer.

So from where I come from, I would expect the sound to be in the same ballpark (or concession stands nearby).

Draw what conclusions you will.

is it possible a patent issue could be brought into factor? like behringer and mackie and the fcc? fuck it, if you want the sound of a royer, buy a royer, it is good company and good products and good support so i've been told. in the expanding world of capitalism, your money spent is exactly what you support, totally harsh but true.

well, in order to have a patent issue, you first have to have a patent. That may or may not exist. And the case where everybody had patents, perhaps B&O would take a swing at Royer to start with. :D Here's a pic of the B&O BM4 (the motor is out, but it has little wings that protrude around the grill), looks familiar, right?:

But looks can be deceiving. I'd put my money on the insides of the two microphones being quite a bit different. And personally, I've never heard someone describe the Royer as "Sounding just like a B&O". Same would go for these other mics coming out. Because it looks similar, does not mean it is.

Remember, it's audio.. Get your ears on!
