I think irony may be one of the most widely misunderstood and mis-used terms of the last decade.

Ironic, given that said decade has defined itself repeatedly by its self-conscious employment of "irony."

Here's to "classic" irony: mechanics who die in car crashes as a result of negligent maintenance, Beethoven's deafness, ambulances running people over... that sort of thing.
