42I failed my driver's license test by ending up driving on someones front lawn. It was so bad, the cop administering the test made me sit in the back and had my dad come up front and drive us back to the DMV. On the long drive home I decided to buy a CD player and my first CD purchased for it was
fIREHOSE--Live Totem Pole e.p

43My first CD was the Tyranny of the Beat: Original Soundtracks From the Grey Area compilation on Mute Records. On it are tracks from Throbbing Gristle, Swell Maps, DAF, Cabaret Voltaire, Monte Cazazza, The Boys Next Door (pre-Birthday Party band), Can, Die Krupps, Fad Gadget, Loop, Hafler Trio, SPK, Einsturzende Neubauten, Chris Carter (from TG), Non, Wire and Dome. Heard lots of these outfits for the first time from this CD. Fantastic.
The first LP I bought with my own allowance money was Synchronicity by the Police.
First cassette purchased was Heartbeat City by the Cars.
I'm feeling old.

44In 8th grade on the recomendation of an older student, I bought Metallica's "Black Album" the day my mom took us to get our first CD player for the house...
I only listened to half of it and hated it. I took it to school the next day and gave it to this really hot older girl who loved them....
Right after that I bought "Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge" by Mudhoney.....I actually still think that is their best album and it is horribly underrated....it seems like noone ever mentions it....

At that time there were only few cds available here in Brazil. However,
the first record I`ve ever bought was a tape of the cure-concert.

This CD is great! It was instrumental in my appreciation of many of the bands listed. Loop's "Collision Time" is so goddamned good.
My first CD purchase(s) was made from Columbia House. I can't recall the precise shipment. From what I can remember it included: The Divinyls S/T, Elvis Costello's Armed Forces, The Jungle Brother's Done by the Forces of Nature, and a bunch of other crap. Well, the Jungle Brothers was not crap, and that Costello CD has "Accidents Will Happen," and "Oliver's Army" on it.
