Child Support

Fucking pay it! Jesus, I don't understand the issue with this - my kid could potentially go hungry because you don't want to do your part, even financially?
Does anyone here pay/receive child support payments, or could you explain to me some reason WHY a person would think they shouldn't have to pay it?

As a child of divorced parents, I would say - with first-hand knowledge - child support is the most important thing a father or mother can do to help their children. My father was always good at sending money to my mother for my sister and I and sometimes he would send more than what was negotiated. It helped not only pay for food, but also clothes, school, etc... all the necessities and even a few extra things that kids need, like entertainment. Without help from my father, I don't think we could have lived comfortably, especially during the recession when my mother lost her job and was living off unemployment for a year. That year, I received a calendar for xmas, it was placed under a cardboard cutout of a tree that I made. But we still had food on the table because child support kept us from going completely hungry at our most needy time.

Fathers or mothers who do not pay child support are screwing their own children out of a normal childhood already fucked up by divorce. Kids don't have the luxury of choice when it comes to their parents.

Hey, would you have a talk with her father for me?

Pretty please?

You don't understand how that works. A lawyer costs money. They won't do anything for you unless you get a lawyer - if I'm worried about feeding my kid after 1 payment he didn't make, do you think I can afford to get a lawyer?

Suck.

If you ever have to, PLEASE just pay your child support people.

You want me to drive into Milwaukee in a black van with black windows, pull up to his place, kid-nap and blind-fold him, hold him over a bridge and explain to him the importance of child support?

I might if he didn't live in bumm-fuck Florida. That was sweet though.

I didn't know that!

My friend Wendy has been dealing with shit for ages along these lines. Not only did her ex rape her and impregnate her in the first place, then beat her AND her daughter, but after she was finally able to get away from him he's made her life hell for years AND he gripes about child support! At any time he could have given up partial custody and let the whole thing go, but his sick ass just wanted to keep bringing trouble to the table. It took years of legal shit to finally get custody out of his hands. Now he's not allowed visitation without a therapist present, in an office. She got screwed around by the courts for so long though. Wood Goblin, I'm sure Rachael has already threatened legal action but until there's a reasonable court mandate, nothing can be enforced.

If I nutted critical (aka made another human) and I didn't want to be the parent, I can't imagine doing anything BUT forfeiting parental rights. It almost seems too easy.
