In this video, Geddy Lee looks like he's on the cell, trying to tell his Spanish gardener where the hedgetrimmer is.

I'll go so far as to concede that "Working Man" was a fucking awesome song (though the Ramones' obvious bite of the main riff for their "53rd & 3rd" was better) and 2112 was a respectable album, but I really can't tolerate Geddy Lee's singing for very long.

I sort of got over Rush when I was 13 or 14. Same old story - found punk rock, etc.
Also, Neil's drumming and lyrics just *do not* do it for me.

But I still have a soft spot for them. John Rutsy left them so long ago (right after the first record) that I consider this to be the original three members working into their 4th decade.
That's a hell of an accomplishment.
And it's not like they're Foghat, playing BBQs and Harley Day, they are filling stadiums and gaining new fans.
Good for them. I really mean that.

I shudder to think of what DLR is going to try if the VH reunion ever really happens.

When I think fondly of the band, it's the "new wave" record, Permanant Waves, that comes to mind. It's got some weird textures on it and it represents the last phase of theirs that I can defend. They "went 80's" two albums later, just like every other band, and it didn't suit them well.

Congrats to Rush for keeping it together, writing their own songs, making their fans happy while still being decent guys, and doing what they love. Honestly, I'm jealous.
