as far as the whole "i feel i have to be sexied-up for men to listen to me" thing... my impression is this: if you're sexied-up, men will pay attention to you, but not necessarily in the way that you want, and a lot of them won't actually be listening. if you are makeupless, not thin, etc., some men will ignore you (but fuck those guys) and the men that do pay attention to you are more likely to actually be listening and not just trying to get in your pants. and some will still try to get in your pants, if that's something you're interested in. so until the day that all men wear makeup and it's an equal playing field, i say, have no compunctions about laying off the stuff.
