I don't get that either. I own all the Libertines albums and I've heard Baby Shambles enough times. Baby Shambles isn't as good as Libertines. And the Libertines aren't the greatest rock and roll band I've ever heard. Their first album is pretty good, but nothing out of the ordinary. Perhaps their live shows are legendary, I wouldn't know I haven't seen them live. I'm guessing most of the praise is due to successful PR work.

Sorry...I actually enjoy much of the Babyshambles record and I'm interested to get my hands on the next one as well. I would say that to be contrary even if it weren't true but it is.

What are you talking about? The man is a drug addict for heavens sake how do you, I or even he know what he wants? He has an addiction. Whether you see that as an illness, a circumstance brought on by self indulgence or as a life choice you can't deny the effect that dependence has on somebody. It does not generally go hand in hand with rationality and the possession of a sound mind.

This whole thread is completely judgmental and flimsy in the extreme. It is based purely on tabloid speculation and hearsay. It bares no relevance on any of our lives as far as I can see and only acts as a distraction from the far weightier and relevant issues of our times that we barely pay heed to.

I don't know if the majority of people posting their chosen ways of Pete Doherty doing himself in are doing it to make themselves feel better about their own lives or lack of success in music in commercial terms or if they think that he should be punished for defiling the celebrated super model Kate Moss or whatever. All I know is that the assumption that questioning "isn't this what Pete Doherty wants" is almost pathetic in it's attempt to justify this thread.

If you think the Libertines and Babyshambles are shit; fine, do a crap or not crap thread if you are that bothered. Otherwise this is no different to poking fun at the fat wheezey kid who's crap at sports. Indie Jocks? Oxmoron(s)?
