My roomie has a bottle of 30 year old english scotch. The absolute smoothest hard liquor I've ever consumed. Just drink it straight, sip it, and play TMNT Turtles in time for the SNES.

Hmm. I honestly found the Green to not even be too good. The Blue was good, but definitely not good enough to justify the price.

Yes, nursing a good scotch is a wonderful thing. It is definitely meant to be savored, not thrown back like a shot of cheap booze.

Good tequila can be like that also. Such as Don Julio Anejo, and also Patron Anejo.

I never thought I'd appreciate tequila as anything other than a fistfight-catalyst, but a friend introduced me to good anejos last year and I've since found a few I enjoy sipping.

Like I need another booze vice.

I would definitely like to go to this place. Anyone ever noticed heavy scotch/whisky/bourbon drinkers being only into crappy beer like Bud or Coors? I prefer hard liquor to beer, and scotch/whisky/bourbon to other hard liquor, but when drinking beer I do like something better than crap.

I'm sitting looking at a bottle of Speyside 12 Years and a wee special bottle of Inchgower Single Cask 59.9%.



I will not indulge tonight but will wait until the weekend.

The Speyside is indeed good, but having over-indulged at a recent wedding (from a hip flask in the sporran) I have avoided taking a snifter since. But I will, soon.

There's a wee cheeky 17 year old Glengoyne hiding in the cupboard too. I've had that for about 20 years. My wife was given it when she worked at the distillery during her University work experience.

Here's a man who knows his whisky! 18yo seems to be a magic age for many malts.

A warning to international travelers! Be wary of special duty free only versions of your favorites. I have been burned on both the Macallan Elegancia and the Highland Park 16yo. Both upsettingly sub-standard bottlings. These days I won't buy something I haven't tasted beforehand.

A glug of Johnny Walker Red or Black might make the dessert you are cooking taste even better (or your porridge) and are probably fine in cocktails but I wouldn't serve them neat to anyone I liked.
