The way I like to drink good scotch whiskey, is out of a ceramic cup, with a little bit of hot water.

Sipping and belts off the bottle are the way to go. Occasional shots. Mixed drinks I can't really get down with anymore. Sometimes ice in whisky pisses me off if I'm sipping cause I drink too slow and get whisky flavored water at the end when the ice melts with my last few sips.

I've recently got on a Jameson and soda kick, though I do like Jameson rocks. Not sure how it happened, but now I can't get enough.

Problem is, it goes down so easy and so quickly, I drink 5 before I know what's happened and that'll make a Tuesday evening pretty interesting.

Much is being made of sip vs. belt as a means of delivery. This ignores sniffing altogether, which is a crucial step in the appreciation of a decent whisky. The aroma will carry notes which don't necessarily come across on the tongue, and will combine with the taste to provide an overall effect which is far more satisfactory than the taste on its own.

Shots and ice are for people who don't like the taste of alcohol. On the other hand, this sipping thing shouldn't be taken too far because you want to take enough in to coat the whole tongue. You don't get the complete taste otherwise.

Sips and belts are two tines on the rusty fork of unsophisticated puritan booze-fear which has it that scotch drinking is either a vaguely unpleasant step necessary to getting hosed, or some kind of treat. A healthier attitude, I think, is to regard it as a staple of one's diet, like fresh vegetables or meat. Barring that, at least as a friend.

Forgive me. I am enjoying a glass of Longmorn and am in a philosophical mood.

I like good cognac as well. I especially like to drink cognac while eating chocolate, especially dark chocolate. The two tastes really complement each other.

Thank you for this.
It keeps coming back to me like a good penny or some sort of mammary boomerang.

It's a bad year if I don't see this at least twice.

Boooooooob scotch on the rocks!

Actually, when I went to see Bob Log, my friend Chris bought him a scotch and dipped his boob in it. Bob Log thanked him, but said he wasn't after a 'dude boob'.
