Apples and Oranges: Frank Sinatra vs. Frank Zappa

i was just talking about sinatra with my brother.

i mentioned that he put a lot of time and care into the songs he chose to sing and into what songs were going on the album.

my brother remarked that AOR might not exist without sinatra.

that doesn't mean i choose sinatra, i'm just saying. i do respect a good singer though. even though he didn't write one word that came out of his mouth. at least he didn't sing all the stupid ones that came out of zappa's.
buy my guitar. now with pictures!

I kinda dislike Sinatra but he's such a funny guy to laugh at.

Phil Hartman's Sinatra litteraly makes me cry, partially because I miss Phil Hartman. He was so talented and I grew up watchin him in his prime. So sad, his death.

Anyway, Frank Zappa, though I've never gotten into his music, strikes me as having been a solidly likable dude (correct me if I'm wrong here). I bet he'd be a lot more fun to hang out with.

Still, Sinatra.

I always got the exact opposite impression of FZ from what i've read. FZ usually comes across as an uptight, passive-agressive, condescending, workaholic.
At least FS had good taste in women and enjoyed his Scotch.
FZ had better groupies though.
