That is arguably his most renowned work.

I always figured that Lloyd was playing rhythm to Verlaine's lead in Television until I saw them live. On stage, it becomes clear that they're both doing a lot of lead stuff, and bouncing different parts of the tunes back and forth. That made me realize why the guitar stuff on Verlaine's solo albums didn't excite me as much as his work with Television -- because a big chunk of what I thought I liked about Verlaine was actually Lloyd. They're both world-class guitarists, and if you've ever had the chance to hear Lloyd play with other folks, you realize why he's gotten the short end of the stick in terms of renown as a musician.

Plus one, and man he he a motor-mouth, I work in sales, I thought I could chew the fat, but wow, just wow...

I've never thought to myself, "that rhythm guitarist needs to shut the fuck up."

I think that about lead guitarists all the time.

Wasn't J. Burns going to make us a copy of Reign In Blood with all the leads replaced by the rhythm tracks from the other channel?

Kerry King and Dave Mustaine both solo as well.

Can't forget Hetfield.

yeah, his guitar playing is way more fun to listen to than hammett's

great, tasteful rhythm guitarist --
earl "chinna" smith (albums played on include "super ape," tubby's "dub like dirt," "king tubby meets rockers uptown," scientist's "heavyweight dub champion"). his playing includes much more than the standard reggae upstroke stuff.

If you ever get a chance to check out the liner notes for the latest reissue of Marquee Moon, you'll find it details the different styles between Lloyd and Verlaine.
Verlaine approached things way more chaotically and played it by ear. Lloyd actually wrote, like full-on sheet music wrote, his leads, which is why he was able to double his parts in the studio note for note.
Neither of these guys has ever played a solo that made me want to say, "Shut the fuck up."
This is going to get worse before it gets any better.
