12The song 'Grand Island, Neb' is one of the best things I've heard for a while.
I walk these streets, a loaded six-string on my back.

17the music is quite good. that nebraska song has a killer bassline. the drumming is very swell.
do i detect a minutemen influence?
however, I don't dig the vocals (sorry). it stresses me out to hear the singing. it's like the homeless panhandler version of mark e. smith, with hemmorhoids, putting too-many-speak-sing-words-in-every-phrase.
This style of singing/yelling (and its variants) is very popular in this decade, with bands on PRF even. It's like some modern spin on Jello Biafra or Frank Black or something. Mclusky did this too, and to a certain degree, that godawful band The Hold Steady does it the worst. I'm on the fence with Stnng's variant of this. Some singers do this well. It doesn't kill it, but it's not really making it tons better either.
still, NC.

18I find em a more tolerable Les Savvy Fav. Seconding the "Grand Island, Neb."...just a good song.

Some jerk once described Mssr. Besinger's stuff like this:
Remember the kid in high school who gave the homeroom announcements over the P.A. system?
Well, imagine they grew up into an adult, living a life of quiet desperation, until one day they snapped and started having Vietnam vet-type flashbacks of those old high school days and regurgitated those announcements wherever they went. At the top of their lungs.
