while I'm not a general fan of the type of music they play, I do think they are a fantastic live band. their rhythm section is just colossal. the last show at the bottle was the best I've seen 'em (about six or seven times?), and some of the new songs were downright beautiful. Fucking hell, I'm really looking forward to hearing those some more.
kerble is right.

I just heard the original version of 'Manic Mechanic'. After hearing the STNNNG cover it's a huge disappointment.

STNNNG = NOT CRAP.

I may be biased but I like this band.

I think Classy's lyric content is more if a direct descendant of Michael Gerald/Killdozer than even Mark Edward Smith/The Fall. The music portion of the equation certainly is, minus the steady drone/add-in more twisted rocking out.

And they certainly do not sound like The Hold Steady to these ears or even Lifter Puller. Sheesh. No slight on any of them. If anything, rock writers here in MN can't not write an article about a local band these days without trying to work in an angle that the local band they are writing about MUST BE inspired by or sound similar to The Hold Steady. Sure it makes writing an article easy and gives a clear reference to Joe Reader, but when you write that about nearly every single band, it loses any significance and probably makes for confused listeners who want to hear about wayward teens drinking in bathrooms of dirt malls in Mounds View than a misbegotten submarine being built on the plains of Nebraska or the id is a dude.
