In September of '95 some friends and I were to move into an apartment off Beacon street in Brookline Mass. We arrived with our stuff ready to move and the previous tenants weren't even ready for it. We waited for hours while they dragged ass around the place clearing out their shit.
During this process one of the people, a nice enough fellow who's name I learned was Joe, walked around giving away various possessions. He offered me a very nice silkscreened poster for some Mighty Mighty Bosstones show.
"Oh, no thanks pal." I said.
"Don't like the Bosstones huh?" He asked.
"No I think they kinda suck." I replied.
You guessed it. It was Joe Sirois, drummer for the Mighty Mighty Bosstones.
I did take his recliner chair that he offered to me later that morning. It was very comfortable and I held onto it for years.
Band: Mighty Mighty Bosstones
34Saw one show back when I was maybe 19-20 or sumshit, thought they were very good showpeople...
Heard a record later, thought they were dumb. They were dumb jocks who celebrated stupidity and beat up smart people. Did not like.
Now...here's a rank
Interpretive Male dancer for Bosstones
Interpretive Male dancer for Howard Jones
Interpretive Male dancer for Avail

Pretty sure that dude went to my high school. Memory is a bit hazy but I believe he played the high school battle of the bands with a group called Hoodlum Kitchen, covering 'Blister In the Sun' and 'Ziggy Stardust'. I remember someone telling me he was going to be the new drummer in the Mighty Mighty Bosstones. He was pretty damn good in comparison to the other high school band type drummers.
Mighty Might Bosstones are CRAP.

I'll say not crap. I still listen to their first album every once in a while. It gives me good memories of the Rat in Kenmore Square. Their later albums really don't even compare.
Anyway I had a similar experience with Joe around 1990 or so. Hanging out with some friends at the aforementioned Rathskeller, one of their songs came on the jukebox. I turned to a friend and asked if he had heard of them. Joe, who was a friend of a friend, leans over the table and says "I can't believe you like these guys." Then he introduced himself as the drummer. It was funny at the time. Turned out he was 17 and having the time of his life.
Also not crap for their Hometown Throwdown when they would play for a week at Christmas. They would have a bunch of local bands open up for them (probably for the biggest crowd they ever played for) and donate a bunch of money to charities.

true, but they had the cutest girl drummer I ever saw. Also, IU introduced the world to Sam McAfee, who is a unique personality and one of my heroes.
Thirdly, Dicky was one of the most talented lyricists I ever met. In the pre-Bosstones days, he fronted an "all-star" ska band made up of guys from other Boston HC bands that rehearsed in the same space (the place underneath the piano factory/restaraunt at the corner of Boylston and Brookline Ave.) I saw Dicky scribble lyrics on the back of a flyer while the band was working out a song. Took him 5 minutes, tops. He did this all the time.
But the Bosstones did suck. The metal/punk part was weak, and the ska was lame (as ska always is). But the frat guys loved it.

39I was a fan - saw them twice when I lived in London and they were great. That whole scene was kind of a douche-fest though.
NC for a couple of good albums that I listened to an awful lot. Pretty rapid decline after 'Let's Face It'.
One of their later albums is called 'Jacknife To A Swan'. WTF?
