88 Boadrums in LA and NYC this year

L.A. people.....

If you wanted to go to this but were unable to score tickets, here is your ticket in, I just got this email from the woman who is organizing the volunteers for the event.

Kim wrote:The event will be held at the La Brea Tar Pits aka Hancock Park aka the LACMA.

On Friday August 8th most of us will meet at 9:00am at the stage area
behind the actual tar pits to have a volunteering meeting. You should
all get your credentials and volunteer shirts at that time. During the
meeting we will be splitting up the volunteers to do certain jobs such
as drum techs, managing lines and foot traffic to the main stage area,
assisting with 21+ wristbands, helping VIP and press check in,
helping Hit +Run with their screen printing station, assisting the
drummers etc.

We will provide all our volunteers with lunch.

We will all get to witness a private pre- 88 Boadrum performance
during the sound check/rehearsals.

Doors open at 5:00pm.

Show begins at 8:08pm.

We need to clear everyone out at 10:00pm.

Here are some guidelines for the event:

-Please no LOGO t-shirts
-No professional photography
-No alcoholic drinking

NOTE: If you can not work the whole day, from 9am, please contact me
as soon as possible!

Also, we are still in need of volunteers, so if you know people who
would be interested, please get them to email me. volunteers88boadrum@gmail.com

Is it just about the drummers, or is it more about the event?

God knows what will bubble up from below the earth when that racket starts.

Well, people that can actually play the drums will make the event what it is intended to be. Unfortunately, this looks like the indie rock cool kids at a drum circle. If the music is the part that makes the event actually take off, this one might just be circling the runway.

You know, I can't knock it yet. I'll go but I hope it's more than just a spectacle. Music inspires, spectacle just slows traffic down a bit more.
