Sometimes a space is tight and backing in the easiest way to get that tight arc required. Some people do this all the time. The corollary to this is making a point of being able to exit one's parking spot by driving straight out, i.e., without having to back up.I do not understand this peeve. I back into spaces all the time, and I've had at least 2 different friends give me crap for it. For me, it's a safety factor: by backing into the space, you have almost no risk of accidentally backing into someone or something when you leave. But it seems like half the time I pull in forwards, I end up with a pedestrian hanging out in my blind spot or something on the way out. I just find it way easier and safer to back in first.enframed wrote:I could be wrong, but it's one of those things that I think says a lot about a personality.I would be curious to hear more about this.Exactly.At my workplace it's a safety requirement that you reverse park any vehicle at all times. So now when I'm driving for "leisure" I just do it out of habit. The safety thing sounds reasonable. I hadn't thought of that because, well, I have mirrors and use them. So, OK, you'll run over the pedestrian forwards instead of backwards. If that's the reason people do it, fine. Just seems like it's always "bros" doing it around here, hence my conclusion into personality. My conclusion is now that bros care about not running over people backwards.
