And while we're at it, all humbuckers should be 4 conductor wire, so you can always coil split.

agiant wrote:The Jazzmaster was designed to use .12 strings (or higher)While that might be true, the string jumping happens on the heaviest string(s) because of the small threads. The extra tension of 12s helps, but doesn't completely eliminate the problem because it won't sit in the groove of a Jazzmaster saddle very far. Personally, I prefer 11s on Jazzmasters for standard tuning. 12s on Jaguars.

The Seymour Duncan JB was hot, too, but sounded better.I want the TV / Blonde Jazzmaster, but I can't play those things, I knock the strings off the bridge. Are the bridges better now?No, people buy the Mastery bridge these days to eliminate this problem. I still have vintage Mustang bridges on my Jazzmasters that do the trick.

My go-to is a 490R paired with a 498T, and I've had a very consistent experience with those in terms of both sound and wiring. With the exception of pickups from PCB guitars, obviously. Who knows about the other crap though. The purists probably see it as part of the mojo toannnn! But yeah, as far as wiring goes, I don't worry about it because I've never had a non-PCB Gibson pickup that wasn't wired the exact same way. One wonders what the world would be like if pickup winders were as consistent as model railroaders.four\_oclocker\_2 wrote:Has anyone messed w/ these 60th Anniversary models?Block necks and matching headstocks are pretty rad in my book. I want all four of those.

The worst was some p90s in a brand new black beauty that sounded as bad as anything

I'm having a hard time getting pics from my phone to my computer so I can't show the new JM just yet. Really wasn't expecting this much girth and bass from the JM. All I heard was about how jangly it was. This thing is really unwieldy compared to the EGC and Les Paul. Glad I had the passive bass and treble cuts installed in the rhythm circuit. Despite the EGC pus being fairly low output, I have a hard time getting a truly clean clean sound, so by the time I step on my dirt it doesn't react like my other guitars. I've got my Traynors volume on 1.5 so I might trying a different amp. I've got an old Music Man 65 and an old 70's Randall that are super clean so we'll see.
