I feel like all y'all have some great ideas about fundraising and such...and I could use some help figuring out how to help out.My friend Des is a retired school principal, and then ran the shelter for homeless families here, which is how I know him...but he grew up in Zimbabwe, and does a lot of work to help out back home. He and his wife sponsor a school in his village- about 300 kids. They need to expand the building, so the equivalent of their PTA is pushing wheelbarrows about 2 miles to the nearest river for water and sand to make the concrete. On his visit last month, Des was able to give their soccer team new jerseys (he also used to coach soccer) and gave them enough cash to finish the foundation. I want to help- and my instinct is to go help do the building. That is stupid, as the cost of my ticket would be much more valuable as cash toward the project. Maybe a better way, in addition to my cash, is to help create some sort of event or way to get lots of folks to chip in.Some of you are geniuses at this. How can I make this a thing? Anyone interested in helping, or at least walking me through planning something?I'm not sure if you've already done this, but if you haven't, sell replica soccer jerseys. It's just the right price point for a lot of people, and it serves as free advertising for the cause (you might add a URL for a donation site on the back as well).

Just had a follow up meeting w/ my friend. He LOVES the replica jersey idea, and we bounced around ideas of how to make that work. He is sending me some videos of the school, which I will post here if there is any interest. Now I need to figure out how I can up my screen printing game, or share the work, to maximize output and 'profit' Bishopdante: love the enthusiasm, but Zimbabwe does have building codes, and while there is no government funding for schools, the government does still technically run them, and has to OK all planning and building. That means if you want to build, you need to use materials supplied by the correct people, etc. I'd love to fight for sustainable building materials and anti-corruption...but we just want the school to be built asap.

Kickstarters and other donation sites also don't work in Zimbabwe due to the non-functional banking and monetary systems. I had considered doing a small GoFundMe for the startup costs of shirts/ink/burning screens- but I feel weird about that.I'm not flush with cash, but I can donate something to help with the startup costs, once you have a GoFundMe going. Do you have an idea as to how much that would be? (I don't have Photoshop or anything like that, so I can't help with that, sorry.)

OK- my friend has had a long phone call w/ the headmaster of the school, who chose some school colors (not really a thing) and was able to send a blurry photograph of an old school logo. Does anyone have some decent vector skills and a few minutes to spare? I could take a run at it in photoshop, but it'll probably be a slow mess. Also been working on the banking end of it-which is completely crazy.
