Welcome to cyberfolk!

1
Hiya everyone!

I am fucking delighted to share this. mpala garoo's (Ian Kubra's) music has been one of my favourite things in the world for years. I found mpala garoo through the PRF via FM Bernado's links to Proposito Recs a while ago. This would not have happened without Bernado and the PRF, so thank you sincerely Bernardo and all! (Also if you hate this then blame Bernardo, okay?)

This is the first part in the pangeia ultima series - Ian's vision here is vast

From Moscow and Sydney with love. Thank you for listening : )

Hey thanks!

The guitar parts are really fun to play. Each one is a single guitar with no overdubs. The trick is to make a prepared bridge with a chopstick at the desired point on the fretboard, and then pluck with both hands. A whole world of weird and wonderful overtones awaits.

Micing and mixing it was nutso. I learned a lot!

Ian’s mpala garoo electronica is deep. Do check out his albums if you are so inclined - there is some really wonderful stuff there

The 5P rod and I got to play these at Hibernation Festival of the lo-fi, which was really cool. It was my first live-stream gig and it went pretty smoothly by those standards. Only one restart!
