Can't ever recall hearing an Autechre track; I've heard a few Aphex Twins tracks here and there, but I'm a particular sort of asshole that enjoys a groove that renders one inescapable from it. I've previously mentioned and enjoy Stefan Betke/Pole, but I find his music to be more of a curious thing than a bodily or spiritual concern. Does one really need to treat dub as an abstract anyway? It's body and soul music. There's another experimental artist whose name escapes me, but he is one of the obsessives in Room 237 and ostensibly made a house, or, house-leaning record titled Ka. Again, a curious thing, but making house music into something cerebral or academic lessens its power.

Can't give a strong vote either way. Also not a fan of the progressive or trance movements if that speaks to anything.
Constructive comments because you have excellent taste in music reflected by your other posts.

Both are extremely contrasted to one and other. I enjoy both. Some tracks are hit or miss.

Both SAW albums are completely different from each other, his earlier, more abrasive but straight tracks are far removed from On, which sounds not really like the stuff on I Care Because You Do. I could go on. A lot of it is beautiful, most of it is at very least engaging. Also, the sense of humor.

Autechre are interesting.
You know, I've been thinking about this a lot since I posted the topic, and I gotta say, this is a pretty convincing post from our man in Brazil. You aren't a lawyer or politician, Bernardo? Cuz you made that argument w/ palpable conviction and authority.

Totally agree, and the breadth of material is why I like RDJ, because there is a semblence of pop music there, Syro won an Grammy for God's sake.

I don't think Autechre gives a fuck about that. The IDM "heads" are going to appreciate them for staying the course and not dicking around with Expert Knob Twiddlers, Power Pill, John Cage prepared piano pieces, and making silly videos and the like,

Love to read it. There is also an interview where he said Jim Thirwell was going to kill him at a party.

I am beating a dead horse.

I would have a lot more respect for AFX if the releases where not so esoteric. Those recordings where amazing but getting the records in the US where a hard time. I think I bought about six records second hand and half of them skiped of had to much surface to enjoy. I don't support pirating music but finally got them all in WAV format from some guy I use to know in Brixston.

For the record I bought Drukqs and 1000 Hurts ( always thought it was Hz till I was corrected about a year ago) and stopped recording or playing music for like three years. I felt like everything that could be done was done.

Autechre got to odd. I bought Untitled when I was living in New York and it was just out there. They kept getting odder and odder. Go live though.

Since reading this thread I have gone back and listened to both and I think this music has more of factor on my taste because it was what my friends and I listened to growing up in the 90's

I think I would only recommended the Autechre box set any anything RDJ did under AFX.
