My son just popped out. Bit of a struggle, there was a doctor with a suction cup, a midwife pushing my wife's tummy and three other people in the room, one about to order a C-section and me cranking my wife's leg and neck. It was a Tom Waits song.
Both are fine now, no C-section.
I couldn't stay so I waited for a bus for 25 minutes outside. I carries my five year old daughter from her bed to sleep beside me. I can't sleep, too much running through my mind.

This sounds exactly like my experience, minus the first child at home. Took a taxi home in the middle of the night etc. Such a very bizarre space.

The Big Sister decided to become a Big Girl and ate her salad and slept in her own room. I don't think I'm ready for this, yet, but I guess I'll have to be. The newcomer is cute, sleeps and eats and looks familiar.

Congrats! None of us is ever really ready for any of this (at least that's what I keep telling myself.)

A few weeks ago I was on a weekend trip (hockey tournament) with just my older son. We were having a great weekend (typically the case when he doesn't have to share time / attention with his little brother, and I got to say "yes" a lot.)

Driving home after this great weekend, I get a text from my wife, "ask Jack about the paint on the side of the house" along with a picture of some graffiti on some wood, and also some right on the house and siding. I ask him, do you know anything about some paint on the side of the house? "No dad"

He painted his dang name. C'mon

I happen to have first-hand knowledge that college students will sometimes do this (ask me how I know) and will even use the same alibi.
So I'd consider him quite precocious.

Maybe there's a teaching opportunity here: power washing, paint removal, house painting, any number of fun things, really.

Oh yeah, there have been great advances in paint removal since I was a kid.

The boy just turned one, cheerful and loud. He is also an incredible puker. In his youth (pre-weaning), he was a first tier newbie puker, but with solids and other distractions he lost interest, and we didn’t pressure him. However, following introduction to nursery and his first full-on cold, his puking has returned, and has reached Olympic force and quantity.

Please help, baby gods. We only have a one bedroom flat, have loads to do, and the poor chap has us running two washes a day, scrubbing clothes and bed linen, floors and other surfaces for over an hour every day, and more often than not has us in cleaning mode after midnight spews. He’s not dehydrated or losing weight, and we’re going to see a doctor after the health visitor recommended we endure another week, but I have to go to the office now and my wife is being ground down during the day. Puke! Everything smells of!
