Biden has done the right thing. He and his legacy will be regarded more favorably now.

And I do believe Harris is a better candidate than Trump. Aside from whatever issues are at stake, in general, she will exercise much more sound judgment and rise to the occasion, build a better coalition on the global stage. America’s better off with a former prosecutor at the helm than a felon who’s never said one bad thing about Putin. (Right-wingers who say Trump “can’t be bought” need look no farther than Russia.)

That is a sincerely encouraging thought. I don’t have much faith in what she would do as president, but it is always good for young women of color to have representation and to be encouraged to participate in democracy. But I feel a lot more enthusiastic about this race today than I did before the announcement.

Lefties will temper their enthusiasm accordingly, if they have any at all, I guess. But I think there's something real at stake and this isn't "over."

She got $50 million in donations overnight. Like someone said earlier there's no way she'd be on top of the ticket any other way, but shit's so weird now it kind of makes sense.

I don't think either party/candidate should be calling this ahead of time.

Well, Trump was the favorite before this....I think many of us pessimists would guess that he'll continue to hold that advantage against a newcomer despite the initial enthusiasm for jettisoning the old fart. I've seen zero enthusiasm for her online or irl, as I said mayor pete got more delegates than her in the primaries. I just don't see it happening, this is the only space I've seen anyone talking about her at all tbh
