Great point. Also if it hasn't been pointed out yet, one of the first things a Trump administration would like to do is destroy the Palestinian movement and give Isreal whatever it wants to wipe Gaza off the map. It's literally in the top order of things they would like to do.
Jesus, I'm now voting for the candidate that is in complete opposition to what I want, but will be so magnanimous as to ALLOW me the privilege to disagree regardless? Are you trying to turn me into a accelerationist? I think a better idea would be, If there are enough Arabs in MI that tell the Dems that they will never ever ever ever win Michigan again until they stop killing people, that might start making a difference. Otherwise this topic is predetermined until the American empire still breathes.
I'm in Michigan and the groundswell for Harris in the last two weeks is HIGH. I think she'll carry the state.
Trump has been shoring up in the suburbs around Detroit (he was in Novi, criticizing Detroit, while Harris was in Kalamazoo), and he'll surely carry the hinterlands, but I think people will come out in big numbers in purple areas for Harris.
I'm in the western Detroit burbs, still in Wayne county.
Somebody just plastered Northville with “Gang Members for Harris,” “Shoplifters for Harris,” and “Illegal Aliens for Harris” signs over the past day or two.
Similarly, we were in the Mt. Clemens (Macomb county) area last weekend and I’ve never seen so many over-the-top trump signs. Huge billboards or flags or crazy homemade signs in at least 70% of the yards. There was a small rally on the corner of 23 Mile and Schoenherr with 60 year old dudes wearing trump flags as capes blocking traffic and carrying “Joe and the Hoe” posters. Saw maybe 3 Harris signs that entire day.
It’s way more subdued around my house. Harris signs may have a slight edge in my neighborhood, but it’s still maybe 1 in 10 houses that have anything out front at all.
I work in automotive, specifically in the EV battery industry, and I'm hearing rumblings from multiple people about people liking Trump now because he's got Musk in his corner and it's going to be good for EVs. This despite all of the anti-environment stuff that he's said and done for years.
I'm a little more pessimistic about which way MI will go.
