Liberal policy was a cultural shift from the grass roots as people fought for rights. What we're witnessing is not as a cultural shift, but a political coup. A true conspiracy decades in the making. I just don't see how it's going to be sustainable. Only something like 24% of eligible voters in America actually voted for Trump, and I would argue probably half of that number is just people not paying attention. With the shift of demographics, if this coup is successful, it will be temporary. It might take more than generation to shake loose, and it might not be in our lifetimes.

My wife is now very much regretting having children. It's pretty sad.

I do think a massive portion of Trump voters were "mah groceries" types that had limited information. With better messaging, the Dems could have courted these people. The saddest thing is any man probably would have beaten Trump in this misogynistic country. My wife said they should have run Walz.
We're headed for social anarchy when people start pissing on bookstores.

Jesus fucking christ
What fucking evil people.

Many decades from now, I want my grandchildren to remind the MAGA grandchildren that, no, your ancestors weren’t “good people,” and their behavior was not “acceptable at the time.” It was evil at the time, millions and millions of people knew it, and the MAGAs and their allies did it anyway.

Now Trump is saying Ukraine "never should have started that war". Words fail me.

Side question: is Trump, convicted felon, allowed out of the country? I noticed so far the officials have come to him, or he's sent Rubio, his uncomfortable sock puppet.

He's reached the point of directly quoting Kremlin's/Putin propaganda which is grim (but totally expected) news.

Current events seem to be from a wicked political comedy/drama:
- Russia talks with US about the Russian-Ukrainian War, talks take place in Saudi Arabia
- the US plan is among other thinks to have European (not NATO) military presence in Ukraine to ensure borders are respected
- however there is no EU or Ukrainian representatives taking part in the talks
- and Russia has already said any kind of western military presence in Ukraine under any badge won't be accepted
- if US current rhetoric is to be trusted NATO is pretty much gone, along with other international institutions
- ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

So it's fascinating to watch, I just wish it was political fiction. And I definitely wish Russia wasn't so damn close.
