Charles Manson co-wrote the Beach Boys' hit, "Never Learn Not to Love".
Joan Jett produced Dischord Records' own Circus Lupus on a seven inch.
Chris Cornell's Soundgarden debut was as a drummer/vocalist.
At one point when Johnny Cash was recording his American series with Rick Rubin, Will Oldham had been invited to come and check out his Shangri-La studio. The day he arrived they'd happened to be recently toying with Bonnie Prince Billy's iconic "I See a Darkness". JC had been struggling with the cadence so Rick suggested Will come into the vocal booth and sing it with him face to face. Within hours of arriving Oldham found himself singing inches away from one of his lifelong heroes eye-to-eye.

32Will Oldham was in an early incarnation of Slint, but they stopped asking him to come to practice once they noticed he didn’t know how to play guitar.

Re: Your Favourite bits of band trivia
34I tried watching a recent "What's in My Bag?" with Oldham but turned it off cuz I thought he was mostly doing self-serving/promotional schtick. (it really seemed like he was gunning to get a songwriting gig for some modern country singer). But this Brett Eugene Ralph story from the early forum days is pretty incredible:
Before the Bjork tour, Will met with Bjork and all of her "people" to iron out the details of the tour. When the promoter (or whomever) asked Will how many people he'd have in his band, he said, "Just one--just me."
"So," the guy said, "you'll be accompanying yourself on the guitar then?"
"No," Will replied. "I'll be accompanying myself on the autoharp."
There was a period of total silence before the guy said, "I can't tell you how bad of an idea I think that is."
What's even funnier is that, when I told that anecdote to Darren Rappa, he said, "Yeah, I was over at Will's right before he flew out to join that tour. He was pacing back and forth, waiting for an autoharp to arrive by Federal Express. Then, after it had come and he was ready to leave for real, he darted back into the house and grabbed a 'How to Teach Yourself the Autoharp' book off of his coffee table and tossed it into his bag."

35Brian Baker of Minor Threat & Dag Nasty, and currently of Bad Religion, had TWO different stints in this band:
Speaking of Bad Religion, they took their second album in a, uh, different direction. Much like Ministry's synthpop album and Pantera's glam albums, they've tried to make people forget they ever did it

39While recording Face of Collapse at Albini's place, a courier brought In utero's final mixes and according to the DK guys when Mr Albini heard'em he wasn't happy at all.
Original bassist from aggrogrungers Paw, Charles Bryan, started working for Red Bull and he has some free-fall-from-plane speed record.
Grabber bros from Arcwelder worked for the Nasa or something like that I read somewhere decades ago. Dunno bout the veracity of that.
