They’re all great - of course - but Pink Flag is what I cut my teeth on and am most familiar with - so gotta be that. It has a particularly great cheerful energy that the other two lack - they are pretty cold records and I need to be in the right mood to listen to em. PF I can play anywhere anytime

Good timing - I was thinking of a 3 way first album post punk dome (pink flag vs entertainment vs quality of mercy is not strnen) but I think that got done in the old forum

Some of Chairs Missing is as good as anything- Heartbeat to Mercy to Outdoor Miner is such a good run--but some of it leaves me cold.

Pink Flag is one of the greatest records I've ever spent time with. I bought it when I was 15 (thanks, Minor Threat) and it made me feel like I had found my people and my world. Kind of hard to compete with that. "Field Day for the Sundays" is one of my favorite songs. It's all so good.

I have never been able to get into 154, and I've tried. I think I've bought it twice now? Sold it twice, too. Maybe third time is a charm? I really don't like the tonez on this one.

For me, it's a toss-up between the first two. There really isn't another album quite like Pink Flag, whereas I can hear the influence of Chairs Missing in just about every one of my favorite 80s and 90s bands.

Me too. Am sort of bewildered by this album. I will also keep trying.

For me, it was more of their name being mentioned with Elastica - whose debut I still love - that piqued my interest.

I voted Pink Flag.
"Whatever happened to that album?"
"I broke it, remember? I threw it against the wall and it like, shattered."

And it was the ultimate gateway band, R.E.M., that had me looking into Wire.
