Salisbury Cathedral left me pretty awestruck. So did St. Anne’s Basilica in Krakow. And I remember thinking the Alhambra was pretty magnificent too, though that was 35 years ago.
A couple years ago, we walked through the torii gates in Kyoto at night, and that’s an experience I’ll take with me for the rest of my life.
House on the Rock is pretty goddamn impressive too, though for very different reasons. Same goes for the infamous “bone church” (the Sedlec Ossuary) in Kutna Hora, Czech Republic.

13The reading room at the Library of Congress.
I don't know if it's still there, but the main atrium at the old state of Illinois building was pretty damn cool.

15I love the Baháʼí Temple in WIlmette. And the surrounding grounds.

16Oh yeah, Hassan II in Casablanca and the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Flower in Florence, Italy.
The one I really want to see is the High Cathedral Church at Cologne. I think if I had to choose a place to be impaled, it'd be there.

17The Hagia Sofia in Istanbul. Or the cupola at St Peter’s in Rome.

18Actually honorary mention for the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption in Cordoba, Spain.
After the reconquista the mosque that was on the site had a baroque cathedral just rammed into the middle of it. It’s pretty spectacular.

20All these posts make me want to travel more.
I'm going on a Mediterranean cruise in December. Hitting Barcelona, Marseille, Florence, and Rome, among other cities (will ask for travel tips later).
I'll hopefully get to go into some cool places there.
