Just came here to post this.
Re: RIP v2 - still no cure for death
1712There was a guy in my area, heroin addict, I didn't know him but had friends who did, and he killed his rich parents in a dispute over money and decapitated them with a bread knife. When stuff like that happens I feel like it's gotta be more than just the drugs. Most junkies will rob their parents, but there must be hate involved to do something like that. Of course the online dunces are blaming this on Reiner's politics, but there could be other more logical reasons why this happened. It's awful whatever the case. RIP Marty DiBergi and wife.

1713^ Woke up this morning and the first headline I saw was something like "Rob Reiner and wife found dead side-by-side in home" and I thought maybe it was something like what happened to Weird Al's parents.. but then I saw the next headline. Ugh, that's up there on the list of "worst ways to die" - to have the last thing you see be your kid murdering you and your wife.
RIP

1714That's truly fucking awful. Spïnal Täp is the greatest mockumentary. RIP.
I'd rather be throwing darts.

1718Joe Ely.
Not a huge fan of his sort of thing, but I did see him in L.A. about 30 years ago when he opened for someone and I was impressed.

1719Carl Carlton of "Everlasting Love" fame (bassist Tommy Cogbill put on a clinic), but for my money "She's a Bad Mama Jama" was the business. As a kid that song dug it's R&B hooks into my soul and never detached. I still listen to it at least once a week. Gets the dopamine and endorphins flowing. Makes me wanna dance. And the video is for real. Rest easy.

Anthony Geary who played "Luke" on General Hospital. As a kid I got addicted to watching stories because of mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. The thing about Luke & Laura was super controversial even for its time: he rapes her while "Rise" from Herb Alpert plays on a soundsystem. And then she ends up marrying him and they become, like, soap couple royalty. Every time I hear "Rise" I think of that scene. And in real life Anthony Geary was gay. Quelle surprise!

1720GH was my Gramma Laposky's "story". "I'm going to watch my story." My favorite person's favorite story, maybe her only one if you didn't count Catholic stories and family stories. So I watched during this era two or three times a year with her too. RIP.
